I've always loved that number, "Take Five". He will certainly be missed. :(

Here is the Stan Getz Quartet playing a medley which includes two numbers from the Getz/Gilberto album, which tonight instantly became one of my favorite jazz albums. The tunes are "Desafinado" and "The Girl From Ipanema".

The link below will take you to a recording of the Jazz band I currently play in doing Things Ain't What They Used to Be by Mercer Ellington.
This was recorded back on October 25th, 2008.
I am the first soloist (tenor saxophone) on the track.
All criticism is welcome.
Let me know what you think.

For the first time in 43 years, a jazz album wins the Album of the Year Grammy. This is a great victory for jazz music and an incredible achievement by one of the big names in jazz today. Congratulations to Herbie Hancock!

Hello everyone, I just joined the group. I'm glad to be here. The name is RebelKat.
Some artists I enjoy are Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Ramsey Lewis trio, Charles Mingus, Canonball Adderly, John Coltrane, Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk, Stuff like that. I'm always looking for new music to add to my library, so feel free to turn me on to some of your favorites. Coicidently, I have much of my jazz on vinyl records and love hunting garage sales and thrift shops for new jazz LP's to listen to. I found an original copy of the Dave Brubeck Quartet's "Time Out" album yesterday at a thrift shop for 49 cents!
Anyway, It's nice to meet all of you. Thanks!
